dinning out...

DH reminded me today that I had forgotten to mention that when we went to the Italian restaurant out in town, we had to request our garlic bread sans syrup.  Yes indeed, the garlic bread would have come covered with maple syrup, had we not told them that we prefered it without.  Also his Chief said that had we ordered spaghetti, it would also come with maple syrup if not specifically ordered without...   A very strange idea if you ask me.  Perhaps they have watched the movie "Elf" and decided that's how to eat spaghetti.

  1. A little over two years ago I was visiting Kyoto and went to an Italian restaraunt. It was part of the structure of the train station under the overhead tracks. No syrup was on any of the food, maybe it's a local taste.

  2. hmmm... could be. Or maybe it's just the restaurant we went to, I don't know.
